Fintelmann/Snyder Residence Remodel-

This was a small remodel so I handled everything. No need to get a contractor involved. The main objective was to get new flooring everywhere (we opted to match the wood flooring that was already in the kitchen and run through the rest of the house), update the kitchen, add window treatments, paint the entire house and furnish, as well as accessorize the entire abode as they had no usable furniture.

Great Room With Fireplace, bold royal blue sectional compliments the simplicity of the Living Room which can be seen through cut outs and between pillars, especially when matched with the two toned arm chairs and various (very traditional) blue and white print ceramics. A fun splash of yellow boldly brings our eyes to the focal point of the room…the fireplace.

Living Room, An updated look at a traditional style. White furniture is matched with golds and light blues and greens. An utterly soothing, yet sophisticated space.

Breakfast Nook With Comfy Chairs. I insisted we use wing backs here. This is a place to sit back and enjoy your morning’s coffee. I just couldn’t see you’re typical Windsor chairs here, they simply wouldn’t cut it!

The cabinets where a very dated dark oak with a wash over it…obviously they had to be updated but we didn’t want to break the bank. So, we opted to paint the existing cabinets white. We also added beadboard to the backs of the island and the cabinet with glass doors. We replaced the outdated trash compactor with a trash pullout. We added a stainless steel rangesplash as well, which was easily custom made for the space. Above the range were just two cabinets, as you see in a lot of homes. But I felt this caliber of home needed a hood. So, we made a shelf-like molding and placed it in the front of the cabinet at the base and then made two panels to make the space look more like a hood and viola, we had a beautiful new kitchen with a brand new hood!

The only area the client and I struggled with was the dining room. I felt it needed more…more on the walls and a hanging light fixture BUT the client is always right and this is their home, not mine. I want them to be happy where they live and be happy that they chose me, not resent me for talking them in to something they do not want.

The clients wanted to do a coastal theme in the guest bedroom. It was a lot of fun! A fun fact about this room is that the clients were having friends into town soon so I was on a deadline to get a bed for them. They wanted an upholstered back headboard and everything I was finding was 4-6 weeks out. All of the sudden I found this great room divider at Cost Plus World Market for about $150 and it just seemed to be the perfect fit for the room. Not only did I make the deadline, I saved my client about $4000 dollars!
