Dark Stained Exterior Cabinets with Black Island
I LOVE the apothecary drawers in the built-in hutch by the dishwasher, this client was so fun to work with! I love it when a client is willing to take your ideas and actually use them! Of course they gave me an idea of the style they wanted but they let me help them give them the statement pieces that would help them achieve that look and weren’t afraid to take risks while still being very traditional.
We made use of every space, in either functionality or style. The flat space under the island is not black but knife cut beadboard and the ends of the island are not just columns but cutting board/cookie sheet cabinets.
The hutch butts right up against a window and the client wanted a window seat so we incorporated that into the kitchen cabinetry. Not only that, we made it a little storage space for toys!
The island is another statement piece. With the stepdown, round table with the two tone light wood top, it really makes this typically track home kitchen feel warm, inviting and, of course, very custom.
I love to use real furniture in kitchens when I can and this kitchen worked perfectly for that! This hutch used to be blue but we painted it black and filled it with white dishes with the occasional splash of color.
Every detail was seen to! Even the plugs we painted to match the cabinet. I wouldn’t have an ugly almond colored socket sticking out like a sore thumb could I?

Check out the built in butcher block and love those lanterns!
A hutch-like look adds character. Think about adding a detail like this in your new home or kitchen remodel.
Love this black painted built in hutch. It looks just like furniture…

A Classic Wood Stained, Traditional Kitchen
Love the built-in clock. And note the flanking plate rack and glass cabinet compliment one another and add symmetry without matching.
Lots of open storage make this already large kitchen feel even more spacious.
A close up on the inset construction and beautifully carved posts at the veggie sink…
We had this table made just for this space.
